GOM meditation workshop

The next day we had an all day meditation workshop called GOM, based on Rimpoche’s teachings on meditation. GOM means to get familiar, to get used to. So it is about getting used to your own mind and mind habits so you can strengthen your mind and have it be useful to you in whatever you need — focusing on yoga, business, taking care of the kids.

Hartmut Sagolla, senior student of Gelek Rimpoche, led the workshop.

The workshop was wonderful. Not only did we learn the method of meditation: both concentrated and analytical, but we learned about the obstacles, the powers and the nine stages of meditation. It was a practical experience — we did several meditation sessions and some stretching led by me — but also very inspiring.
Lunch is important in an all day meditation workshop. Hartmut says the brain needs more oxygen than any other part of the body and so we were hungry! This is JH member, Saara Cohen, OM yoga teacher Detlev Alexander from Berlin's Moveo yoga, Nancy from JH, and Hartmut at...where else? Le Pain Quotidien aka the OM yoga cafe.
